Our client is a global market leader providing integrated business services to partners all over the world to enhance value throughout the supply chain, and do this by applying knowledge, experience and core skills in market development, finance, logistics, investments and information to solve specific business problems across a broad range of commodities and services.The Commercial Departments are importing, exporting, as well as trading Inside European Union.
They also provide logistic services to facilitate the supplier's or customer's trading activities.
The products are from different origin, and are mainly Basic Chemicals, Performance Chemicals and Iron & steel products.In order to sustain the activities growth in Belgium, they are currently looking to extend their team with a new Commercial Manager - Trading Expert based in Brussels.

Commercial Manager - Trading Expert - Chemical Commodities

Job description

As the successful Commercial Manager - Trading Expert - Chemical Commodities, you will have the following responsibilities: Trading activities:
  • Make the appropriate preparation for starting up of new business, and execute.

  • Explore new contracts and business models together with product manager.

  • Identify and manage various risks, grasp and monitor the position (credit, commodity long-short, etc)

  • Planning, negotiating with suppliers/customers and executing sales/purchase contracts for trading activities (purchase - sales - logistics - collection).

  • Supervise operational business process such as documentation, technical liaison, inventory management & credit management in cooperation with business assistants.

  • Sustain healthy relationship with all external & internal stakeholders in order to ensure the reputation of the company and the evolution of its activities
Business development:
  • Find and develop new investment and/or business opportunity in various products and fields, mainly Chemicals domain to pile up good assets for the company.

  • The key target area is likely to be circular economy/carbon neutrality related in line with Europe Green Deal strategy.

  • Analyse & Report on basic chemicals industry and market developments, trends and competitor activities.

  • Develop marketing strategy

Profile

As the successful Commercial Manager - Trading Expert - Chemical Commodities, you will have the following requirements:
  • At least a Master Degree in Business Management (or related field) or equivalent by experience

  • At least 3 years experience is in a similar field/environment - preferably in trading activities - Knowledge of the chemical sector will be consider as a strong asset
  • Fluent in English + Dutch and/or French is preferable.

  • Strong logical thinking and explanation skills in oral and written.

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.

  • Ability to find/dig deeply the potential area of growth and assess the risk

  • Marketing and negotiation skills

  • Knowledge of trade terms

  • Flexible and a team-player

  • Proactive
