By order of an international not-for-profit organisation, which represents the largest global network of academic research groups who dedicate to finding better treatments and cures for breast cancer, we are looking for a Scientific Advisor. The Scientific Advisor contributes to the scientific and medical aspects of the development, set-up, and conduct of clinical trials, research programs, and related activities, working closely with other Headquarters (HQ) colleagues, members of our client and various scientific partners.
Primary responsibilities:
Scientific activities
- Supports the clients scientific leadership, under the guidance of the Scientific Director, to develop and execute the clients scientific mission and strategic goals
- Contributes to the collaborative conception of new patient-focused, interventional and non-interventional patient-oriented clinical trials, research programmes, and other projects
- Leads scientific/medical discussions during trial-specific meetings
- Provides guidance/expertise related to scientific and medical matters, such as in developing translational research and addressing recommendations from ethics committees, health authorities, and IDMCs, as needed
- Plans, contributes to, and follows-up on scientific, project, and business meetings, including those of trial-specific committees
- Stays up to date with scientific and medical advances in the field of breast ancer and oncology
- Complies with ICH-GCP, SOPs, and ethical conduct guidelines
Writing activities
- Writes/reviews study protocols, informed consent forms, as well as other core study documents
- Develops abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations, in partnership with principal investigators and leadership
- Contributes to the development of grant applications to secure funding from various foundations and governmental organisations
Collaborative activities
- Works closely with the Project Managers and the Research Operations team during the set-up and conduct of clinical trials and research programmes with various scientific partners, including the Group members, other academic networks, patient advocate groups, pharmaceutical/biotechnology/other technology companies, and various vendors, amongst others
- Supports the Research Operations team in the review of study documents such as meeting minutes, in meeting preparation, and various other study-related activities
- Reviews study-related budgets and contracts, charters, and agreements developed by the Finance, Research Operations, and Legal teams, as needed
- Works with the Communications and Philanthropy teams to develop scientifically accurate and relevant content and messaging to raise awareness and seek funds for breast cancer research, as needed
- Provides scientific/medical training and guidance to HQ colleagues, as needed
External activities
- Contributes to the scientific/medical aspects of various collaborations, such as the clients Patient Partnership Initiative and BIG task forces and working groups, including providing status updates to the Scientific Director, and the clients Chair and Executive Board members
- Represents the client in its various scientific activities, including attending and speaking at workshops, conferences, and other events, as needed
