Ensure that the delivery on research projects happens within agreed scope, timelines and budget by creating and managing a project plan that allows tracking and reporting of project progress and budget and by coordinating the project team interactions. In addition, the Research Project Manager will closely follow up the framework of agreements around research projects. Finally, the Research Project Manager will play a role in the maintenance of a robust research data management system. The key accountabilities and responsibilities of the Research Project Manager include:
- Build and manage up-to-date research project plans according to latest agreed scope, timelines and associated cost in close collaboration with SVP of Research and Research Project core team members (project leader, lead biologist and lead chemist), and internal and external stakeholders;
- Monitor progress of all activities in scope of research project plans, from the timing and cost perspectives in close collaboration with Research Project core team members and finance;
- Proactively support the Research Project core team members in creating a robust contractual framework around outsourced activities and collaborations;
- In close collaboration with the SVP of Research and Research Project Leader(s), manage the overall Research Team agenda, coordinating and supporting the organization of drug discovery project team meetings (PTMs), Research Team Meetings, update meetings with external CROs,... Ensure that minutes and action points for these meetings are captured and followed up;
- Collaborate with Research Project core team members for anticipating potential project bottlenecks as well as for scenario planning, risk management and risk mitigation planning;
- Deliver on various assigned transactional tasks as per company’s R&D cost management process and assist research team members in management of their assigned transactional tasks towards external suppliers (contracting and cost management);
- In support of the Research Project Leader(s), participate to the creation of project progress updates for communication to management, with transparent updates on status versus planned budget.
- Lead timely delivery on financial budget/forecast exercise targets for all research projects, in close collaboration with SVP of Research, Research Project Leader(s) and research project team members;
- Ensure that project information is stored, shared and available to relevant stakeholders in the context of the project team. In particular, the management and maintenance of the Research data management system would be a core responsibility of the Research Project Manager.
