Multimedia and Communication Support Officers

Role & Responsibilities: We are looking to engage enthusiastic and motivated individuals for a student job or internship in support of the communication and outreach activities of Seascape Belgium to support the development of multimedia material for projects and activities we are currently engaged in (see portfolio here: Toon websitehttps://seascapebelgium.be/our-work) in the marine science and environmental management sector. After completion of a training cycle of 4-6 months, pending positive evaluation of performance and available resources, the trainee will be considered for recruitment as part of the Seascape Belgium team. Main tasks and responsibilities The main tasks will be selected based on the needs, interests and competencies of the applicant, and will be performed under guidance and supervision of experienced senior staff. The scope of the work will entail among others:

• Provide all-phase production support for video and animation shorts integrating interview footage, stock footage and animations: assisting with camera operation for interviews, set-up and sound checking; management of file transfers, transcript generation; selecting suitable footage from archives and available sources, support with editing;
• Create eye-catching visuals (graphics and motion graphics) for social media to promote project events and activities;
• Support the development of conceptual graphics & data visualisation to convey complex scientific concepts for digital and print publication;
• Provide organisational support in the management of visual asset archives;
• Formatting and design of visually compelling slides for presentations applying established brands.

Profile and competences required:

• Applicants for the internship must have already completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline;
• Formal design training in multimedia disciplines: graphic design, motion graphics, film;
• Efficiency in the Adobe Premier Pro Suite, experience with Adobe Premiere, Illustrator and Photoshop, experience with After Effects and InDesign is a plus;
• Familiarity with WordPress Elementor or experience with similar CMS a plus;
• Experience using the Google Drive/Workspace and Microsoft Teams collaborative environments;
• Familiarity working within established visual brand parameters;
• Ability to deliver to a brief and/or capture requirements to ensure vision consensus;
• You can deal with constructive criticism and translate feedback into a new version of your work;
• You take responsibility and work independently;
• You have a creative mind and an eye for detail: copy and graphic elements;
• You are willing to expedite repetitive tasks and take direction;
• Excellent standard of spoken and written English (working language). Knowledge of the local languages (Dutch/French) would be an advantage as well as any other European language;
• Strong work ethic for working transparently with open communication and ability to work both individually and as a team player;
• Ability to report progress and issues in an effective manner internally and externally at group meetings;
• Excellent organisational skills with capacity to deliver on allocated tasks and meet deadlines.
