Team/division description
The Material Engineering Division (MED) contribute to Toyota's development, spanning fundamental research to vehicle project innovation.
The team focuses on advanced material research aimed at fostering a circular economy, achieving carbon neutrality, and driving the future of clean mobility through battery electric vehicles, hydrogen technologies, and CO2 capture.
Material Engineering collaborates globally, working closely with EU universities, research institutes, and suppliers, as well as other Toyota Group entities worldwide, to develop key materials that enhance final product performance.
The department is known for its diverse, inclusive, and open culture, with more than 30% female engineers and a team representing various nationalities. It prides itself on its dynamic, youthful workforce, encouraging open dialogue and collaboration at every level.
Your responsibilities
- Lead and support research projects focused on material characterization and evaluation, with an emphasis on battery research at both the material and cell levels - particularly for all-solid-state batteries.
- Actively engage in hands-on activities such as synthesis, characterization, and performance testing.
- Manage collaborations with EU companies, research institutes, and universities.

Your profile
? You are fluent in English (Toyota Motor Europe’s business language)
? You have a master/PhD degree in materials engineering or equivalent specialization by experience (a must)
? You have experience in material characterization, analysis and testing
? You have experience in electrochemistry or battery field
? You have good knowledge/experience in digitalization (machine learning)
? An internship/apprenticeship in Industry/Automotive sector is an asset
? You have strong analytical skills, perseverance, and the ability to work as part of a team. We are looking for curiosity, creativity and the will to explore innovative ideas and concepts
? You are an open personality and a flexible team player
? You are owner of a driving license
