As the Accountant for Gare Maritime Food Market, you will be responsible for the operational financial management of the business. Your key responsibilities will focus on accurate and timely processing of transactions, monthly invoice payments, precise booking and reporting, as well as debt collection and credit management. This role is critical to ensuring a smooth month-end closing process, supporting operational efficiency, and contributing to financial analysis efforts that aid in data-driven decision-making. You will also be involved in handling ad hoc tasks to keep the office running.

Located at the iconic Tour & Taxis, our venue offers something for everyone. Key Responsibilities: Invoice Processing and Payment
- Ensure all vendor invoices are received, reviewed, and processed in a timely manner.
- Facilitate monthly invoice payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payment schedules and terms.
Booking and Ledger Management
- Execute daily and monthly entries for expenses, revenues, and adjustments.
- Maintain accurate records in the general ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
Credit Management and Debt Collection
- Monitor and manage customer credit limits and terms, assess creditworthiness, and liaise with relevant departments for approvals.
- Oversee collection processes for outstanding payments, reduce bad debt, and escalate collection issues as needed.
Month-End Closing
- Perform monthly reconciliations for all financial accounts, including AP, AR, and cash accounts.
- Coordinate with the Finance Director to close accounts on time and address any discrepancies.
Basic Financial Analysis
- Prepare month-end and ad-hoc financial reports on cash flow, revenue, and expenses.
- Assist with analysis to provide insights into operational and financial performance, helping to guide budgeting and forecasting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in accounting, preferably within the food, retail, or FMCG sectors.
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
- Strong familiarity with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Fluent in French or Dutch, decent understanding of the other language
