Product Development Engineer

For our client, a global player in manufacturing plastic and metal applications for various industries (aviation, space, life science, energy, industrial,...), We are looking for a Product Development Engineer.
You will be responsible for designing, developing and testing new products as well as improving existing ones for the metal seals department. You are involved in every stage of NPD (New Product Development) process, from ideation and concept generation to design, testing, launch in production. You will work closely with Application, Manufacturing, R&D engineers and a product manager to ensure that products meet customer’s needs and goals, and will play a crucial role in bridging the design and manufacturing teams in NPD process. In this role, as Product Development Engineer – Metal Seals, you will:

• Design and develop the novel products and improve the existing ones using CAD software and other engineering tools (Solidworks)
• Creation of testing prototypes to evaluate design concepts, manufacturability and performance
• Perform rigorous testing and validation to ensure the products meet the quality standards
• Optimize product designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness
• Addressing and resolving technical issues that arise during the product development lifecycle.
• Staying abreast of new technologies and materials that can be leveraged in future product designs
• Support VDT (Value Development Team) in conduct market research to identify user needs and product requirements

• You have master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science
• You possess advanced design skills and 3D modeling (Autodesk Inventor/Solidworks) and Finite Element Analysis (Abaqus)
• You have experience in Project management, Material knowledge (Metallurgy) and good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, and quality control protocols. (Welding, metal forming, machining processes, electroplating)
• You are fluent in Dutch and English - French is a plus
• Travelling up to 15% of your time is no problem for you
• You have a passion for innovation, an eye for detail and thinks out of the box.

• You understand customer’s fundamental needs and listen to the view of others.
