Senior Frontend Developer @ Editorial

Antwerpen - As a Front End engineer you will join our teams that work on Digital Article Editing and build technology on React and Typescript.

For us it’s crucial that all team members are multi-skilled. So even the most seasoned Frontend Engineers give a little bit of love to the Back End from time to time. We use and build technology based on the AWS Cloud using all the serverless technologies like Lambda’s, DynamoDB and API Gateway. 

Depending on the requirements we believe you should use the right tool for the job. Most of our backend services are written in TypeScript. 

You’ll work with a small team that is experienced with remote pairing. You’ll be in control of the technology choices and work closely with an architect to ensure cross-domain and team decisions allow us to keep iterating on our products quickly and reliably. 

Who are we?

On a daily basis hundreds of journalists of our major brands publish thousands of articles on our products such as AD, HLN, de Volkskrant.

In order to write digital articles we provide articles with an article editor that allows them to publish articles to an article display detail that ensures the article is always displayed as intended.

With our teams for Digital Article Editing we build an article editing environment that is reliable, collaborative and predictable. 

On top of our article editing environment exists a single article module that both renders our articles an article as previewed in the article editor for both app and web on all our platforms. Heck, articles shared between Volkskrant and de Morgen can be shared in the original design of the original publication.

Different profiles, one TEAM. Different projects, one goal, one mission! As a team, you are responsible for the design, low-level architecture, build, QA testing and delivery of software. We live by the baseline: ‘you build it, you run it’.

Main strengths:

• Frontend: utilize your expertise in React, HTML, CSS, NextJS, and TypeScript to deliver high-quality web applications.

• Assist our backend colleagues where familiarity with NodeJS, AWS Lambda, Java, Spring, MongoDB, Maven, and Gradle will be beneficial.

What we are looking for:

• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with front-end technologies mentioned above.

• Solid understanding of backend development to effectively integrate with our team’s workflow.

Technical Environment:

• Engage in our CI/CD processes using AWS technologies such as CloudFormation, CDK, CodePipeline, ECS, and Docker.

Preferred Methodologies:

• Basic understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Test-Driven Development/Behavior-Driven Development (TDD/BDD), SOLID principles, Clean Architecture, Hexagonal Architecture, and Clean Code practices.
