Scientist
Job description
- As a Scientist, you conduct projects focusing on new product development and the optimization of existing products and processes. These projects might vary from a limited scope with execution time from 6 months to 1 year, to larger and more complex projects taking up to 5 years of execution.
- You set up new formulation protocols through more efficient formulations based on existing technology as well as on literature study and patent review. You anticipate on potential issues that result from new norms or changing legislation, and remain aware of competitor material. You even so explore new technologies to investigate potential future opportunities.
- You collaborate with engineering/operations in the development of new production methods and support them with upscaling new formulations and modifications of the raw material.
- You develop and validate new tests methods to monitor critical to quality (CTQ) parameters and assist Quality Control (QC) in setting-up an effective QC program. You support QC in selecting, setting up, modifying, and validating complex lab equipment to meet projects needs.
- You coordinate lab technicians and technologists and train them in the proper use of the lab equipment.
- You use statistical techniques to estimate variability and utilize experimental design concepts to map results.
- You protect Intellectual Property (IP) of newly developed innovative solutions and perform intellectual property mapping for specific projects.
- You are part of the R&D department Sealants & Adhesives and report to the R&D Team leader.
Profile
- You hold a PhD or Master's degree in Chemistry or Engineering. We are open to consider candidates who are at the start point of their career, as well as senior candidates with up to 10 – 15 years of work experience in an R&D environment.
- You prefer to be closely involved in business applications and production challenges through your R&D knowledge and expertise. You know how to bridge the gap between theoretical studies and practical implementations.
- You have an entrepreneurial mindset and a broad perspective on R&D. You also show ambition to take R&D within Soudal to "the next level".
- You work organized and structured and you excel in processing statistical data.
- You adopt a flexible attitude and are able to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
