As a Field Service Engineer, you will be tasked with operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting renewable energy assets. Your primary focus will be to ensure maximum system uptime, enhance performance, and maintain rigorous safety and compliance standards. This role demands a practical, problem-solving mindset and the capability to work autonomously in the field.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of renewable energy systems (solar, charging, and/or battery storage facilities). Coordinate efforts with various O&M subcontractors
- Conduct emergency repairs as needed to ensure minimal service disruption
- Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical components, and communication equipment to guarantee optimal system performance
- Respond promptly to service calls, identifying faults and implementing solutions to reduce downtime
- Supervise and support the commissioning and testing of new installations and upgrades for solar, charging, and battery storage facilities
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company procedures
- Maintain precise documentation of service activities, including detailed reports on maintenance, repairs, and system performance
- Collaborate effectively with remote monitoring teams, engineers, and site managers to optimize system operations
- Manage spare parts inventory and tools to guarantee service readiness
- Offer technical support and training to site personnel if required
To perform this role you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience in commissioning and maintaining Battery Energy Storage Systems is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including inverters, transformers, and control and communication systems
- Proficiency with SCADA systems and monitoring platforms, as well as experience in data analysis and/or communication protocols for system optimization
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical components
- PLC programming knowledge
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in remote field locations
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required, primarily within Belgium
- Valid driver’s license
